Proform Hybrid Trainer XT vs PRO – Which is Best For You?
Trying to decide between the Proform Hybrid Trainer XT vs PRO?
Wondering which is best for you and how they’re different?

While the Hybrid Trainer PRO has been out for a couple of years now, the Hybrid Trainer XT is a fairly new model to the Hybrid Trainer family. It’s really an upgrade on the older, original Hybrid Trainer model.
But these two hybrid trainer look so much alike, it can be hard to tell the difference between them.

This post will break down the main differences between the Hybrid Trainer XT and PRO models for you – so you can make a more informed buying decision. Let’s dive in.
Proform Hybrid Trainer XT vs PRO – Price:
As of this writing the Hybrid Trainer XT comes in a bit more affordable than the PRO model – about $100 less with Free Shipping here.
The Hybrid Trainer PRO has a few more upgrades to it – and comes in around $599 with Free Shipping here. That’s still pretty affordable when you consider that you’re getting 2-machines-in-1.
So is the PRO model worth the extra money? What extras does it give you?

Proform Hybrid Trainer XT vs PRO – Stride
Stride length is the furthest length between the pedals on an elliptical trainer. A longer stride feels more natural and helps to more fully extend and work your lower body muscles.
So overall, it can give you a more effective workout.
The Hybrid Trainer XT comes with a 15 inch stride – which is ok, but a bit on the short site.
The Hybrid Trainer PRO gives you a longer 17 inch stride. This will feel more natural and comfortable for many people – especially if you’re over 5 foot 8 inches in height.

Proform Hybrid Trainer XT vs PRO – Flywheel
A heavier flywheel helps to give you a smoother-feeling elliptical ride, without the jerky stop-and-starts of cheaper elliptical trainers.
The Hybrid Trainer XT comes with a 13 pound flywheel – which is ok.
But the PRO model steps it up to a heavier 15 pound flywheel. This is going to make the PRO model feel a bit more stable and smooth, especially when you’re using it in the elliptical trainer mode.

Proform Hybrid Trainer XT vs PRO – Seat
The seat on the Hybrid trainer XT is adjustable with a mesh back (for better cooling air flow). It also has extra padding in the bottom for a more comfortable feel. Here’s the Hybrid Trainer XT seat:

The Hybrid Trainer PRO seat has a bit more substance to it with a thicker, padded backrest. It also has an easy-adjust pull lever that you can use to adjust the angle while you’re sitting in the seat (see the pic below).
The XT model doesn’t have this – you have to get off the seat to adjust the angle. And it’s not as fluid an adjustment with the XT seat.

Hybrid Trainer XT vs PRO – Workouts
The Proform Hybrid Trainer XT comes with 16 built-in workouts – 8 for the bike and 8 for the elliptical trainer, which isn’t bad.
The Hybrid Trainer PRO steps it up for 20 built-in workouts – which gives you a few more ways to challenge yourself while working out.
This may or may not matter to you however if you’re going to try an iFit Coach subscription however – since iFit Coach gives you unlimited workouts.

Bottom Line?
So which is better when comparing the Proform Hybrid Trainer XT vs PRO elliptical-bikes?
While the Proform Hybrid Trainer XT is more affordable and therefore attractive from a budget standpoint the Hybrid Trainer PRO gives you a few more features.
The longer stride will give you a more comfortable, effective lower body elliptical workout – especially if you’re taller.
And the heavier flywheel will also help anchor the trainer for more stability. Plus the seat on the PRO model is just a bit more comfortable and easy to adjust.
At the end of the day it really comes down to your budget, preferences and goals.
But hopefully that gives you a good idea of the differences between the XT and PRO hybrid trainers.
