Proform Hybrid Trainer XT Review – Key Benefits:
2-Machines-In-One
The key advantage to this trainer is that you get 2 machines for the price of one. You can use it as either an elliptical trainer or a recumbent bike – or both (depending on your mood).

Not much energy? Relax and take a gentle cycle while watching your favorite show.
Got lots of energy and want to burn maximum calories? Crank up the elliptical training that day.
The hybrid trainer easily converts from elliptical bike and back again in just 2 easy steps. You just adjust the pedals and move the console down.
You can do it in seconds – it doesn’t take a long time. And you don’t need to be super strong to do it – it’s very straightforward and easy.

Tablet Holder Above the Console
There’s a sturdy bracket above the console for your tablet. So you can watch your favorite shows, Netlix or just surf the net as you workout.
You can also connect with iFit (see below) and watch in real time as you run or bike famous world trails – from New Zealand to the Swiss Alps.

Upgraded Footpedals
One of the issues with the original Hybrid Trainer model is that the pedals were really designed for the elliptical trainer – not the bike. The angle was off. So while you could use them when you were biking, they weren’t exactly ergonomically friendly.
Proform has solved this problem with the Hybrid Trainer XT model and added a special attachment to the pedals that you can use when biking. This makes the biking feel a lot more comfortable.
Easy To Read Backlit Console
The Hybrid Trainer XT also has an upgraded, sleeker console. It’s backlit and easy to read your workout stats.
This display tracks your speed, time, distance, and calories burned. Another nice touch is the adjustable console angle – so you can move it to the best position to view all your stats.
You also get several built-in workouts – some for the bike and some for the elliptical trainer. So you can add some challenge to your workouts.
iFit Enabled
If you have a tablet you can attach it above the console and connect to iFit Coach. iFit Coach is a very cool technology that lets you track your workouts over time, see how far you’ve come, set and reach new fitness goals.

You can also run or bike different world trails – from the Swiss Alps to Santorini with iFit and watch the actual scenery pass you by in the tablet screen for a more virtual reality experience.
iFit has also added a huge library of new workouts this year – everything from walking tours through Florence to HIIT training outside the temples in Thailand. It’s very cool and you’ll never run out of things to do.

16 Resistance Levels
The 16 different resistance levels can be changed with the touch of a button from the console window. This is a great way to add more high-calorie-burning intervals to your exercise sessions.
Upgraded Seat
The Hybrid XT trainer also steps up to a more comfortable seat (vs the Hybrid Trainer). Proform has added lumbar support and extra padding for a more comfortable ride experience.
The seat also adjusts both horizontally and vertically – so it’s easier to find just the right fit for you (or anyone else in the family).

Proform Hybrid Trainer XT Review – What You Should Know:
Shorter Stride
The 15 inch stride may be a bit short for taller users. If you’re over 6 feet, you may want to consider taking a step up to the Hybrid Trainer Pro model – with a 17 inch stride – for a more comfortable fit.

iFit Subscription
While you don’t need iFit to use this machine, if you want to try out the iFit workouts, you’ll need an online subscription. Also note that if you don’t have a tablet that you can connect to iFit, you won’t be able to watch the workout videos or world scenery.
Bottom Line?
If you want to get 2-fitness-machines-for-the-price-of-1, you’ll definitely want to consider the new Proform Hybrid Trainer XT elliptical-bike.
It’s currently the most affordable Hybrid Trainer, making it easy on the pocketbook. Plus it also adds upgraded footpedals and an improved console (vs the original Hybrid Trainer). The seat is also much more comfortable.
And with the built-in workouts, iPod dock, tablet holder and iFit Coach option – you’ll never run out of cool things to do on this trainer!
