Proform HIIT Trainer Ceiling Height – What Ceiling Height Do You Need?

One of the most frequent questions I get about the Proform HIIT Trainer elliptical is about ceiling height:

What ceiling height do I need for the Proform HIIT Trainer?” or “I have an 8 foot ceiling and I’m about 6 feet tall – is that high enough to fit the Cardio HIIT Trainer PRO?

That’s a great question.

Unfortunately Proform hasn’t been all that clear on this issue.

Because of this I decided to go directly to Proform and ask them. You’ll find what they told me – and how it calculates out for you in the post below.

Note however that I do not work for Proform.

So if you’re going to buy a Proform HIIT Trainer anywhere, be sure that you know all the details on the machine you’re buying from the official Manufacturer’s site here.

Question: How Much Ceiling Height Do I Need for the Proform HIIT Trainer?

Ok, You need to know 2 things here: your own ceiling height and the height of the tallest user who is in your home who will be using the trainer.

Because ceiling heights and user heights vary across the board I’ll give you what I know so you can then take it and apply to your personal situation.

This is straight from the manufacturer’s mouth:

“You’ll need about 18 inches above the tallest user’s height.”

So using my trusty Google conversion tool, 18 inches is about 1.5 feet – that sounds about right for this type of machine.

Ok, let’s do some calculations then.

Proform HIIT Trainer Ceiling Height Calculations:

If your tallest user is 6 feet then you’ll need a ceiling height of 6 + 1.5 feet = 7.5 feet

So in this case, unfortunately a lower 7 foot ceiling height would not work for you. But you’d be fine with an 8 foot or 9 foot ceiling.

Let’s say your tallest user is 5 foot 8 inches. So converting the 8 inches to feet is 0.67 feet. So then you’ll need 5.67 + 1.5 = 7.17 feet of ceiling height.

Using this formula, here’s a list of a few other ceiling height calculations for you:

6 foot 2 inches works out to 6.17 + 1.5 = 7.67 Feet

6 Feet even works out to 7.5 Feet

5 Foot 10 inches works out to 5.83 + 1.5 = 7.33 Feet

5 Foot 8 Inches works out to 7.17 Feet

5 Foot 5 inches works out to 5.42 + 1.5 = 6.92 Feet

So I hope that clears things up on the issue of the Proform HIT Trainer and ceiling height. Basically I think if you have an 8 or 9 foot ceiling, you should be fine.

If you have a shorter 7 foot ceiling, unless you’re under 5 foot 4 inches you might be pushing it.
