Proform Cardio HIIT Trainer Vs HIIT Trainer Pro – Which is Best For You? (Updated)

Trying to decide between the Proform Cardio HIIT Trainer vs HIIT Trainer PRO?
These are both hybrid elliptical-stair climbers that can help you get better results than a traditional elliptical trainer.
They’re both designed for high intensity interval training workouts (or HIIT) – which have been proven to help your body burn more calories, even post workout.
But what about when you compare them against each other?
How do they compare?
And which is best for you?
This post will give you a rundown on the main differences between them to help you choose the best option for you.

Proform HIIT Trainer Vs HIIT Trainer Pro – Price
The Cardio HIIT Trainer comes in at the most attractive price point – around $999 with Free Shipping here.
The HIIT Trainer PRO model is the premium model with a lot more options for you. It comes in for a few hundred more with Free Shipping here. So is the Pro model worth the extra money?
Proform Cardio HIIT Trainer vs PRO – Console
One of the key differences is really seen in the console between these two machines. The Proform Cardio HIIT trainer has a 7 inch, dual-color console – seen below:
The Pro model – seen below – has a 10 inch, multi-color, HD touch-screen console. So it’s larger – and in full HD color with a touch-screen that you don’t get on the regular HIIT trainer:

This really can make the iFit world scenery and trails come alive (more on iFit below). And the larger screen makes the HD workout videos much more enjoyable. It’s also easier to read your workout stats.

Proform HIIT Trainer vs Pro – In-Handle Controls
You’ll also notice from the console pics above that the PRO model comes with in-handle resistance controls just above the heart rate grips.
So you can easily make resistance changes on the fly with the PRO model.
You don’t get in-handle controls with the regular HIIT Trainer.
Proform HIIT Trainer vs PRO – iFit Coach
iFit is a very cool new tech that connects your trainer to the Internet. From there you can track your workouts over time, see how far you’ve come and set new goals.
You can also run anywhere in the world – from Paris to the shores of Hawaii and watch the actual scenery pass you by in the console or tablet screen.
iFit has also added tons of new workouts this year – everything from walking tours of famous landmarks to HIIT training in the Swiss Alps.
Now, while both HIIT trainers will work with iFit Coach, there are a few difference between them that you should know.

Because the HIIT trainer only has a dual-color console, if you want to try iFit, you’ll need to connect with your tablet and use the tablet holder above the console to watch the iFit scenery (see pic above).
With the HIIT Trainer PRO model however – because it has the full-color console – you can easily connect to iFit through the console with the push of a button.
Then you can watch the iFit scenery that way (and save your tablet for something else like surfing the web or watching movies). See the pic below:

And, if you get the Proform HIIT Trainer PRO through the Manufacturer, you can currently get a 1-year membership to iFit Coach included (over $300 value). So you can try iFit Coach out for a full year to see if you like it – which is a very cool deal.
Proform Cardio HIIT Trainer vs Pro – Flywheel
The Pro model has a heavier flywheel than the regular model – 30 pounds vs 28 pounds. While this isn’t a huge difference, it does help to give you a smoother feeling ride.
It also helps to anchor the machine for a bit more stability. So it will hold up a bit better under longer, more intense workouts.
Proform HIIT Trainer vs HIIT Trainer Pro – Resistance
You get a few more resistance levels on the Pro model – 26 levels of resistance vs 24 levels on the regular HIIT Trainer model. So you have a bit more room to grow with the Pro model vs the regular model, especially as your fitness level improves.
Proform Cardio HIIT Trainer vs Pro – Heart Rate Monitor:
Both Cardio HIIT trainers come with hand-grip pulse sensors on the side of the console to measure your heart rate. However if you get the Pro model through the Manufacturer, you can get a Free Wireless Chest Strap included as well.
Most people prefer the chest strap monitor as it tends to give more accurate results than the hand-grip sensors.
It’s also much less annoying than having to continually grasp the sensors to get a reading (which means you aren’t working your arms either).
Cardio HIIT Trainer vs HIIT Trainer Pro – Warranty:
The warranty on the Pro model is a bit longer as well. It comes with a Lifetime Frame Warranty, 5-Year Parts Warranty, and 2-Years on Labor.
Contrast that with the regular HIIT Trainer warranty – Lifetime Frame Warranty, 3-Year Parts Warranty, and 1-Year Labor Warranty – and you’ll see that you get more much protection for your investment with the PRO model
Bottom Line?
The Proform HIIT Trainer and HIIT Trainer Pro both use a stair-climbing-elliptical motion. This works more of your lower body muscles and burns more calories than a regular elliptical.
They’re both also more compact than a traditional crosstrainer. However there are several key differences between them.
The regular HIIT trainer model is more attractive price-wise and gives you all the basics you need for a high-calorie burning, challenging workout.
However the PRO model gives you an upgraded full-color console with touch screen for more entertaining workouts. You also get a heavier flywheel for added stability and more room to grow with more resistance levels.
So at the end of the day it really comes down to what you’re looking for.
