Trying to decide between the Proform 920E vs 720E elliptical trainers?
Wondering how they’re different and which one is best for you?

These are two very similar-looking front drive ellipticals that both come in under $1000. This makes them attractive if you’re on a budget – but you still want a quality, front-drive trainer.
They both give you generous 19 inch strides to help you more full work your leg muscles along with power incline and iFit Compatibility.
They also both have tablet holders above the console – so you can attach your tablet and surf the web or watch movies as you workout.

So what’s the difference between them? And which is the best option for you?
Well, there are a few key differences between them you should know before you decide. Let’s dive in and break it down:
Proform 920E vs 720E Elliptical – Price
As of this writing, the Proform 720E is the more affordable of the two trainers – coming in around $799 with Free Shipping here.
However the Proform920E is just a few hundred more, coming in around $999 with Free Shipping here. So is it worth the extra money for the Proform 920E?

Proform 920E vs 720E Elliptical – Console
You’ll see a big difference between the two consoles on these trainers. The Proform 720E has a backlit, dual-color console as seen below:

This is backlit and easy to read with a scrolling message board. However it pales in comparison to the full-color, HD, touch-screen console found on the Proform 920E elliptical:

The full color console really makes the iFit Coach world scenery much more enjoyable to watch and can really improve your workout experience.
You may also notice that the console window on the 920E is larger than the 720E – 7 inches vs 5 inches. This also makes it easier to read your workout stats.

Proform 920E vs 720E Elliptical – Flywheel
A heavier flywheel generally gives you a smoother-feeling ride without the jerky stop-and-start motions of cheaper ellipticals. A heavier flywheel can also help anchor the machine for added stability.
The Proform 720E comes with a 20 pound flywheel – which is pretty good, especially at that price point. However the Proform 920E comes with a heavier 25 pound flywheel.
So over the 920E should feel a little more stable and solid overall.
Proform 920E vs 720E Elliptical – Footpedals
With the Proform 720E elliptical you get oversized, cushioned footpedals – which is pretty standard.
With the Proofrm 920E elliptical you get upgraded, adjustable footpedals. You can choose from 3 different toe-heel angles to find the most comfortable fit for you.

Proform 920E vs 720E Elliptical – Resistance Levels
The Proform 720E elliptical comes with 20 resistance levels – which is again, pretty good and gives you a lot of challenge.
However the Proform 920E steps up to 24 resistance levels. So there’s a bit more room to grow with this elliptical as your fitness level improves over time.
Proform 720 vs 920 – iFit Coach
Both elliptical machines come compatible with iFit Coach. With iFit Coach you can track your workouts and see how far you’ve come over time – which can be very motivating.

You can also run famous trails all over the world – from Hawaii to Thailand – and watch the scenery pass you by in the console or tablet window.
Because the Proform 720 only has a dual color console however, you’ll need to connect to iFit coach through your tablet (see pic above) if you want to take advantage of the iFit Coach virtual reality workouts.
With the Proform 920 elliptical you can connect to iFit directly through your console with the push of a button. It’s much simpler and you don’t need your tablet to do it.

Plus if you get the Proform 920 elliptical through the Manufacturer (as of this writing), you can get a 1-year Membership to iFit Coach included. So you can try it out for a full year and see if you like it – which is a great deal.
Bottom Line?
So which crosstrainer is best when comparing the Proform 920E vs 720E elliptical?
Well, on the one hand, the Proform 720E is the most affordable of the two, making it great for budget-conscious buyers. And it does have all the basics you need for a great workout.
However the Proform 920E does gives you a few more premium features like the full-color console and adjustable footpedals.
Plus you have more room to grow with the extra resistance levels.
So it really boils down to what’s most important to you!
