Proform 600 LE Elliptical – A Good Buy For You?
The Proform 600 Elliptical is a super-economy elliptical that folds up to save space.
You can find it in a number of discount stores usually coming in under $500.
One of the main benefits is obviously that it folds up. You also get up to 16 levels of resistance and 18 built-in workouts.
There are however several downsides to this trainer you should know about as well, including the fact that it is a super-simple, basic trainer without a lot of options for you.
So is the Proform 600 LE elliptical a good choice for you?
Here’s a review of what you need to know before buying:

Proform 600 LE Elliptical Review – The Pros:
Folds Up To Save Space
This elliptical folds up fairly easily to save space. There is some work involved however. You need to remove both foot rods from the back wheel then fold the wheel up. There is a small wheel at the front that makes moving the trainer easier.
Decent 18 Inch Stride
Stride is the longest distance between the two pedals. While most ellipticals at this price point give you from 14 – 16 inches, you get a bit longer with this trainer: 18 inches.
This means you can more fully work your lower body muscles better than with a shorter stride. The longer stride will also feel more natural and comfortable for most people.
18 Built-In Workouts
You get 18 built-in workouts on this trainer, designed by a certified personal trainer. Each workout focuses on a goal like calorie-burn or time. Some workouts will change the resistance for you based on the workout.
Hand Sensor Heart Rate Monitor
You can stay in your target heart rate range with the hand sensors in front of the console. You get a constant read of your heart rate as you grasp the sensors.
Proform 600 LE Elliptical Review – the Cons:
The console window is super-small on this trainer and not backlit. It’s also very hard to see your workout stats on this trainer.
Cheap Design Gives Flimsy Feel
Unfortunately this is one of Proform’s discount store models – which are very different from the higher grade ellipticals they sell through their Manufacturers site.
It is cheaply designed and will shake and wobble a bit when you pick up the pace. Many user reviews have also complained about loud noises coming from this trainer after a week or two.
It’s only covered by a 90 day warranty – which should tell you something.
No iFit LIVE
The Proform 600 LE elliptical does not come iFit LIVE compatible like all of Proform new models. Again, this tells you that this elliptical has been kicking around for a while now, mainly through Proform’s discount distribution arm
Bottom Line? Buyer Beware
If you’re looking for a super-cheap elliptical trainer, you may have come across the Proform 600 LE elliptical trainer. Coming in under $500 it can be tempting to pick it up at a cheap price.
However we would not recommend this elliptical as it has too many noted problems from user reviews. Also, we found it flimsy when we tried it. And the console is almost impossible to read – which is another strike against it.
Plus the fact that you have almost no warranty protection is a big red flag. There are other better-designed ellipticals out there – like the Smart Strider 495 which also folds up but is much more stable and sturdy.
Or the Proform 520E which is also under $600 but with a front drive design, much heavier flywheel and backlit, easy-to-read console.
